Messi’s Injury; Good or Bad?

This past Saturday, October 20th, Lionel Messi fractured his radius during a match against Sevilla. While trying to get around a player to go for a tackle, Messi got caught behind Franco Vasquez while in the air. When he landed, he landed on his right arm, and it bent inwards then outwards. It was reported that he fractured the radial bone in his right arm, Lionel Messiand Barcelona confirmed that he will be out for three weeks.

With Messi being out for three weeks, he will miss the scheduled El Clasico match against Real Madrid happening this upcoming Sunday. This will be the first time he has missed Clasico since 2007. He will also be sitting on the sideline for the Champion League double header against Inter-Milan. Three years ago, Lionel Messi was out for almost two months with a knee injury; however, the record of Barcelona did not drop like it was expected.

Although the star player of Barcelona is out on injury, it is hoped that the level of play stays up to the standard they are used to playing at. With Messi being gone, it will give more opportunity for less seen players to step up and make an impact in the game.

The Best? Ronaldo vs Messi

If you’re a sports fan, you’ve most likely heard about or seen pictures of Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s most famous for his career on the Spanish futbol club, Real Madrid, wearing the number 7 on his jersey. However, he recently moved to the team Juventus.  Most people who watch soccer or know of the 01B6E248-D94B-4FCE-B46B-49B243BFFE64sport, believe that Ronaldo is the best player in the world.

People seem to perceive him as the best because of the amounts of goals he has scored in his career. Along with the goals, he has some mad skills, no denying that aspect of D74A2BCF-A4AB-4145-817E-4D0D5F8E2EFDthe game. Because he is the highest paid player in soccer at the moment, started a line of cleats, and how his statistics look, people believe he is easily the best. But that’s not what I think…

Contrary to the statistics and earnings of Ronaldo, I believe that he is not the best. Just because you make the most money or produce the most goals, doesn’t necessarily mean that he is the best to ever play. The best player is someone who sees all aspects of the game and never expresses poor sportsmanship. Someone who is the best, has the best interest for the team, not for personal gain. Th808DBE79-C27A-4B5E-8B5A-66485DEBF1BCat is why I believe Lionel Messi is currently the best player in soccer. Messi is a player who travels the field and can be fluid in the transition to different positions. He makes plays and connects passes to ensure the teams best result, instead of keeping the ball for himself to score more career goals.

I know that people feel strongly about Ronaldo being the best, seeing how much he makes, but are they really basing it off true talent and how much he helps the team? Because of the hype around Ronaldo, everyone A01BBAFA-FD56-432F-8CF5-99F5BA631014started to jump on the bandwagon and become ‘fans’ of only him and refuse to support anyone else. True fans will cheer on their favorite player but also acknowledge the great things the others accomplish.

Even though I don’t agree with the majority of fans, I will not cave and will continue to support who I believe is the best. However, I do believe that Ronaldo is in the top 5 best players, I stand by my analysis of Messi and that he is the best.0EF2E594-CF30-4326-98A3-38DD4CDEB030
